Dog Tracker is created on the Salesforce platform. All of your data is stored securely in your Salesforce Organization and is accessible from any device with internet access. Salesforce organizes your data into objects and records. Think of an object as a tab on a spreadsheet, and a record like a single row of data.
Objects have home pages which are accessible through Tabs. Unlike a traditional spreadsheet, each Salesforce record has it's own page.
A good resource for learning about the basics of Salesforce is the CRM Basics Trailhead module which takes about 30 minutes to complete.
